1 Corinthians 16:14
Let all your things be done with charity.
Don’t you just love the simplicity of the Word of God? This verse is pretty self-explanatory. If what you’re doing is not being done with love, you may want to check your motives. In Spanish, the word charity means “the love that never ceases to be”. When you do something out of charity, you voluntarily give without pretense. Charity and love are one in the same because it describes the perfect love of Christ. For God so loved the world that he GAVE (charity) his only begotten Son (John 3:16). Charity involves self-less sacrifice. It pleases God to exalt others before you. Love is the order of the day!
When was the last time you showed charity to someone without expectation of a reward? How is your attitude towards giving? The condition of your heart matters to God. He requires a cheerful giver with a loving attitude to show charity towards his people. His gifts are good and perfect. His favor is for a lifetime. Whatever you do, do it with charity, for this is the will of God concerning you.
Heavenly Father, thank you for charitable gift of salvation. You loved us so much that you gave us your only begotten son so that we could have eternal life. Let whatever we do reflect the same level of charity that you have bestowed upon us. Lord, forgive us where we have failed in this area. The greatest commandment of all is love. Help us to walk in love and to live a life of charity. In Jesus name, Amen!
