1 John 3:1
The first word of this verse is an attention grabber because it wants you to observe what comes after it. Manner is a way in which a thing is done. Bestowed is a gift and/or honor. You can read first part of the verse like this: Observe the way the love of the Father is gifted us. Do you see how knowing the definitions of words can help break down the scripture in a way where you get better understanding? Have you realized what a gift it is to be called the sons of God? Despite how we treat Him, He doesn’t take His love away from us. Have you ever considered that before now? We can look back over on all the things that we have done that broke His heart, yet He still bestowed His love upon us.
The world will never understand this kind of love but those of us who have a real relationship with the Father have a responsibility to still share it with them. Don’t get frustrated when you are rejected because of your faith. They rejected Him too and still do today. They can’t know you when they never knew Him.
Father, thank you for seeing enough in me to still call me a son of God. I know that I will never deserve that title but I am grateful that you see fit to bestow upon me. Thank you for patiently and understandingly loving me through it all. The manner, in which you love me, will never be forgotten. In Jesus name, amen!
