Psalm 86:5 (NLT)

O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.

The Psalms are a wonderful place to read about God’s love for us. The words are often full of worship to God and give great descriptions of His love. This Psalm has been titled a prayer of David. If anybody could testify to their experience of God’s love, he would be the one. David describes God as being good, ready to forgive and full of unfailing love. David was never ashamed to ask God for help and he did so very regularly.

How does this one verse apply to our lives? In order to receive the love of God, we first must acknowledge that He is good. Now, David said that He was so good and that means to a great extent. Can you see God’s goodness working in your life despite what you are going through right now? Next, we must be willing to accept God’s forgiveness. There are too many Christians walking around thinking that God is mad at them. That is a trick from the enemy!

God loves us so much that He is ready to forgive us at a blink of an eye but we have to position ourselves to receive and believe it. Thirdly, we must understand that God is full of unfailing love. You cannot compare the love that man gives to us versus the love that God gives. They will NEVER be on the same spectrum! You can’t be afraid to receive God’s love because of the way someone treated you. God is not them and they will never be God. All you have to do is ask God for help and He will give it to you.
