Deuteronomy 7:9 (NIV)

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

Did you know that God’s love is a covenant, which is a binding agreement that was ratified by the blood of Jesus? There is nothing more beautiful or breathtaking than this covenant. Moses was preparing the people before they went into the Promised Land. He got specific instructions from God on everything the children of Israel was to do and not do. He had just given them the 10 commandments and cautioned them against disobedience. Now he is reminding them what the Lord is going to do for them because of the covenant He made with Abraham. That covenant was not only for them but for generations to come after them. They key was they had to love Him and keep His commandments in order to enjoy the benefits of His love.

This same covenant is available to us today through Jesus Christ. We never have to wonder if God loves us. The covenant speaks for itself. He will never breach His covenant or change the terms of it. The covenant is everlasting and will be available to the generations that come after us. It is our job to teach them to love Him and to obey His word. God’s love will never run out to His people. Why? He is a faithful God and keeps His word ALL the time! If you ever feel like you cannot feel His unfailing love, then it is a sign that you have drifted away from Him. The good news is that He is still waiting on you to come back.

God’s faithful love is a covenant that was ratified by the blood of Jesus!

Father, I thank you the covenant of your love. You have never breached the covenant even when I did. I’m so grateful that your love will still be available to the generations after me. Help me to teach them about your faithful love and how to obey your everlasting word. Thank you for always keeping your covenant. In Jesus name, amen!
