Titus 3:4-5 (NLT)

But—When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.

In this short book written by the Apostle Paul to Titus, is power packed leadership lessons and reminders that we haven’t always been right or done what was good in the eyesight of God. Sometimes we can get on our high horse once we’ve been saved and conveniently forget our former life and the issues in our present life. Paul wanted to make sure that Titus understood that we are only here because of God’s kindness, mercy and love. If it wasn’t for the blood, which washes away our sins, we would still be enslaved the world and it’s principles. We have a new birth and a new life through the Holy Spirit.

God doesn’t want us to be in slavery to things of this world. He doesn’t want us to be wrapped up in religious laws and dos and don’ts, that will never save us. Yes, there are things we shouldn’t do as Christians but we are no longer under the Law but under grace. Don’t allow anyone or any religious institution keep you bound to rules and regulations that add no value to your relationship with God. God already knew that works could never save us. That’s why He sent His Son to die on the cross.

We must show the same grace to others that we receive from God. That is a true sign that the love of God in on the inside of you and not just the surface. If you have truly received the love of God in your life, then you are FREE from religion!

Father, thank you that you didn’t allow me to die in my foolish and disobedient way. Help me to  understand the magnitude of your love and extend that same grace to those I encounter. The blood works for us all that will receive it. In Jesus name, amen!
