Daniel 3:23-25 (KJV)

And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.  Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.  He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

Note: Read the entire chapter for clear context.

These three Hebrew boys refused to bow down to the golden image that King Nebuchadnezzar created to worship. Their allegiance was to God Almighty and they didn’t allow a person with a title to shift them from their stance. They boldly told the king that they would not bow down and that God would deliver them, however, even if He didn’t they know He was still able. Their faith and boldness to stand against the King and his decree, infuriated him. He went into a rage and ordered the furnace to be seven times hotter. He wanted to prove a point about his authority but didn’t want to accept that his powers were nothing compared to God. The soldiers that threw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the furnace were burnt up but nothing happened to them. God demonstrated His love by sending  the Son of God to walk around in the fire with them to get the attention of a wicked king. The King made a decree that no one should serve any other god but the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

Does it feel like you are going through the fire in your own life? Are you wondering where is God and why He hasn’t rescued you yet? We all have a process to go through in this life. It’s not always going to feel good or look pretty.  Remember this, He’s in the fire with you. God loved the king enough to use these three boys to get his attention. Have you ever considered that just maybe God is allowing you to go through because He wants to get the attention of someone else who does not serve Him? We often times disregard evil people and write them off but that is God’s job and not ours.

Father, help me to look at my challenges in life with a different perspective. Help me to see others they way you see them. Forgive for being judgmental and writing people off as if you are not able to change them. I am not their God. My job is to let my little light shine so that others can be drawn to you. Thank you for another day to be that guiding light. In Jesus name, amen!
